You think you have problems (UK civil liberties)
Thu Jun 12, 2008 at 07:19:00 AM PDT
Today David Davis, the Conservative party member of parliament for Haltemprice and Howden and the Shadow Home Secretary, has resigned his seat so as to force a by-election and to fight the government over the issue of British citizens civil liberties. This was instigated by last night's disgusting display of pork barrel politics by the Labour government who bought the votes to pass a bill allowing for 42-days detention of terrorist suspects without charge. This marks the biggest attack on the Magna Carta and habeas corpus in Britain so far.

The downside was the widespread "anti-American" feeling - though perhaps more accurately anti-Bush feelings in most cases.
*For the McCarthyites out there - yes, it's the Telegraph, a right-wing paper but it's also their poll so no choice.

Martin Sheen announces support for Obama on the BBC
Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 02:42:58 PM PDT
Tonight on the BBC's Graham Norton Show Martin Sheen declared he was an Obama supporter.
After having some disparaging remarks about George W. Bush and commenting on the warm words that President Bill Clinton had for the West Wing he went on to declare his support for Obama. He also stated he felt a little sad that the two Democratic contenders were whacking away at each other.
Mr. Sheen was previously for Richardson and helped campaign for him.
I imagine there will be YouTube video soon but for those people in the UK they will be able to view again with the BBC's iPlayer.
