Sometimes it's hard keeping track of how many houses you own. That's what you pay accountants for, I guess. But is it possible John McCain does know how many servants he has, or perhaps if he knows the names of these hardworking people? The one thing we know is that he had to up his budget for his household servants from $184,000 in 2006 to $273,000 in 2007. Not knowing anyone personally that has a "household staff," I'd really like to know details on this.
So this is it. It will be "I was a POW" (who lives in more houses than he can count, wears $527.00 loafers, flies on his wifes jet, and thinks $5 million dollars is rich) vs. you're a modern DFH elitist.
Well, let the games begin. But before the games start, could we please call into question how it came to be that Mr McCain had the chance to become a POW. You know, back when he had everything that a boy could want and then some. Talk about a charmed life. I've never heard of a USS Obama, but I have read about the USS McCain.
I don't call into question his time as a POW, nor whether or not he served honorably, because those have been asked and answered. Follow me below the fold....
McCain surrogates are pointing the elitist finger back at Obama
"But, but, Obama has a big house, and he made $4 million last year!"
(Is that figure accurate? I'm sure Obama did make a big haul off books last year, but is $4 million accurate?)
Regardless, Obama should not be playing "regular guy". He should show that he is aware of his own success to be part of his message. Something like this:
I'm a US Senator. We make $170,000 a year. That alone means that I am--like Senator McCain--making more money than 90% of Americans.
But, I have also written some books, and those books have made me a good bit of money the past few years. Especially last year, we did very, very well. Heck, I made $4 million! That's 10 times[?] as much money as I ever made in one year before that! FOUR MILLION DOLLARS!
But, here's the thing. According to John McCain, all that money I made last year off my books--DOESN'T MAKE ME RICH! I guess I haven't taken time to get used to the idea that, in spite of all those book sales, there are still a lot of people out there who can afford to buy a bigger boat than I can, or who can afford to OWN MORE HOUSES THAN ME. And here I though we were doing pretty well
Here we go again. It's the purple band-aids all over again. The Republicans have leaped on Barack Obama's suggestion that a small partial solution to our energy issues would be to properly maintain tire pressure and engine performance in our cars and trucks. Somehow, this sort of practical advice has once again been painted as "elite". Well what REALLY is elite?
What if you weren't distracted by Obama? Would you then consider that, in the last elections for the executive position in both the most populous state, and nationally, the two major party "choices" (Three out of four of the candidates...) were either sons or grandsons of Nazis or Nazi supporters/enablers, or, were members of the secret society, Skull and Bones, or, in the case of George W. Bush, were both Nazi grandson and S&B member. John Kerry, to our current knowledge, was "only" an S&B member.
I presented the following info about Gray Davis's family background in part III, of this now five part series "About Relationships between Samuel Pryor & Jupiter Island, FL Residents"...If you're willing to take a hard look at Obama's choices of policy advisors, you can understand better that to vote for him is to vote for the elite's agenda, not for yours and your family's ...there is more:
Barack Obama is elite, so we are told. Or maybe its "uppity", only the people who accuse Obama of being elite will never admit they really mean uppity (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).
A number of thoughts and outrages have been swimming around in my mind lately. Yesterday, I read with great interest a Daily Kos diary talking about the House hearings relating to Rep. Kucinich's impeachment resolutions, but which were studiously arranged not to seem like impeachment hearings. One thing in particular about the diary resonated deeply within me:
This is my first diary. Reading the Kos post about the KS woman who felt hopeless and the diary about WV, I thought I'd share my perceptions re: neighbors and friends here in KY. I'm not much of a writer, but I wanted to try to share my perceptions for what their worth.
I've been watching FOX over the last few days regarding Obama's trip. Their main strategy seems like it's going to be, "Don't believe anything you hear from anyone in MSM, but us. It's ALL liberal bias. Don't listen to anyone, but us. We are fair and balanced. Don't let those elitist lefties make fools of you." Living in KY, I think the faux-news' message may just work, again, unless we can learn to actually stand beside and with one another.
While I dont think McCain is as dumb as Bush, his technological illiteracy (Not Just A Technological Troglodyte But Too Dangerous Also) and the poor grades in college he proudly admits to in this video do not give me confidence that he's a competent learner able to quickly come up to speed on the many intellectually complex issues he would face as president.
And why in the world, after Mr. C student's disastrous tenure, would we still want someone who thinks its funny to admit he was fifth from the bottom? Why is such an admission politically wise? Why does this admission make him a "regular" guy, as if being smart makes you "irregular," or that dreaded word, elite.
As usual, the ever-expanding economic divideremains the most under-considered issue worldwide. Through the prism (pyramid) of its creation, the ways it maintains itself, and its long and short term ramifications, every other major issue of our time is better understood, if not directly tied. This includes war, immigration, education, crime, health care, even climate change and national security. At what point should we (they)be more afraid of our own economically terrorized 90+%than of bands of 'extremists' holed up in caves on the other side of the world, disenfranchised and radicalized by the exact same forces?
A few days ago I went to McCain's campaign website to check some facts. While I was there I took a look around. I was very surprised at what I saw. (Actually, I was speechless!)
So I got this brother, who is a total conservative as Bubba with a Harley, and he sends me this Full on elaborate wingnut propaganda, brainwashing initiation video most likely used for indoctrination into the Good ol boy network.

Now how do you answer something as fact twisting as this with anything less than long hours of observation under psychiatric care?
The perpetual repetition of what "artificial facts" they put inside their heads and attempt to shove it in everyone else's head, is treated like... well like gospel.
The gospel according to.... what ever slimy creature continues to drive their hate I suppose...
But seriously..... how do you all respond to a volume of collected bigotry and hate and "truthiness" that seems to have no end?
Because let's face it, that's what the "elite" label is really all about. Those of us who've felt incredibly insulted by Clinton and Fox News' comments about Obama the Elitist, Harvard-educated and pointed-headed know what Obama knows: education isn't cheap (for most of us) and it doesn't come easy.
People like my husband and I, both from solidly middle-class families, are tagged with the "elite" label because we worked hard enough and took out enough student loans to go to college, then graduate school. Meanwhile, Hillary is running around bragging about her support from whites without college degrees.
So thank god someone (Stanley Crouch) has taken the time to point out in print that all these attacks on education are attacks on what's best about America.
It's taken over 200 years, but American politics is finally evolving into a mature process that reflects the inherent nature of her people. This experiment in Democracy has taken innumerable turns and tumbles over the years, most often relying on the dominant presence of an elite ruling class to steady the ship of state. Despite the egalitarian ring of our founding principles, a nation "of the people, by the people, for the people," still seemed more obeisant to the privileged. But no more.

One thing that has become painfully clear as the primary campaign drags on through the spring is that the Clinton's have not yet plumbed the depths of their own political ambitions. In the week before the most current do-or-die Tuesday primary, the Clinton campaign has reached the point where their tactics are equivalent to what has been used by Republicans against Democrats for the past 2 decades. Most disturbing of all is their use of the words "elite" and "elitist" to attack Senator Obama on his refusal to support Senator Clinton's summer gas tax holiday, all while dismissing the seemingly unanimous advice of professional economists. The parallels between her dismissing of "expert" opinion and that of the Bush White House on any number of issues should sound alarms with most Democrats.
