MSNBC - Please, please, please fire Joe Scarborough

I have just been reminded why I had sworn off Morning Joe for the past couple of weeks. Not sure why I slipped up this morning, but I hereby admit it was stupid.
He's at it again.
Talking to Mayor Nutter of Philly (Clinton supporter) just now, Scarborough asked (this is not exactly word-for-word, but it's very close):
Senator Obama was only in the Senate for a year before he started running for President. Could you imagine how difficult it would be to run this country after being in DC for only one year?
It is not easy for most of us mere mortals to condense that much idiocy into such a small collection of words. But that Joe, he's a pro.
Let me count the ways this is a stupid question:
- If it would be so difficult to run the country with only one year of DC experience, it would presumably be that much more difficult if you have 0 years. Like . . . oh, Bill Clinton. Or Reagan, or Carter, or any other president who comes in from a governorship.
- Look, Joe. Being leader of the free world is a tough job. Period. The person who will succeed at it is the person who is able to set up a smart and successful administrative structure, competently evaluate the challenges that arise while s/he is in office, develop a coalition to support their goals, inspire the American people to unite toward common purposes, and learn from each experience that comes along. I think there is a candidate who has demonstrated the ability to do all these things, and it ain't your boy McCain.
- What knowledge or experience does a mayor have that makes him more competent to answer that question than any person on the street? He hasn't run the country or spent time in DC, so what the hell does he know?
OK, I guess there weren't quite as many ways as I thought. The first one was so strong it multiplied itself in my mind. But my basic point remains intact. Joe needs to go.
